FAMILY CRISIS: WHY A LADY IN ITALY VOWED NEVER TO VISIT NIGERIA AGAIN

This is a true life story. For the purpose of concealing her identity, permit me to call her Adesuwa. Like every other Nigerians in Diaspora, she works very hard in Italy. Often working many shifts in other to square up with the rising expectations of her family members back home in Nigeria. At one time, she made up her mind to build a house in Nigeria. Hence, she started sending money back home for this project. Her mother took charge of the project.

Instead of using the money for the purpose it was meant, she started to squander it.  The mother started living a luxurious life. This took place with the cooperation of her husband, who initially was opposed to such recklessness. The family was living the good life, while the proverbial hen that laid the golden egg was suffering.

At certain point, Adesuwa wanted to know what extent the project had reached. So she demanded to see a photo shot of the building. The mother, in a cunning manner, decided to take the picture of another persons property and sent it to her daughter in Italy. Adesuwa was pleased and happy to know that her project was indeed progressing as planned. The mothers deception worked perfectly. A time came for her to visit Nigeria. When the mother learned of this, she started to scheme and plan evil for her daughter.

Eventually, Adesuwa arrived in Benin City. She lodged in a hotel. Meanwhile, the mother had hired assassins to kill her. But with a twist of fate, the assassins failed to carry out their plan. They even revealed to her who it was that wanted her dead. Her hands trembled when she heard the shocking revelation. Her mother wanted to get rid of her. Consequently, she made haste to leave the country. She swore never to visit Nigeria again. Also, she would never get in touch with her family members again. This reminds me of Jesus’ statement that ones enemy will be persons of his own household.

A FAMILY TORN-APART OVER PROPERTY ISSUES

This story am about to relate took place at Evbuotubu, Benin City. But I will keep the identity of the characters anonymous. Madam Osagie is a mother of six children. She bought a land many years ago. However, she did not have the money to develop the property. Many years passed and the land remained in this condition.

Fortunately, her first son traveled out of the country. After some time he came to Nigeria and decided to develop their mother’s plot of land. Eventually, he built two flats on it. The mother and other family members moved into the house. But after some years the mother passed on. Because of love for the property, the younger brother started to claim ownership of the said two flat. Trouble was brewing gradually. The younger brother wanted to sell off the property without the consent of the eldest brother. The dispute was growing by the day. The family was tearing apart quickly.

In view of this dispute, the eldest son came to the conclusion that he will bring down the building. We all thought it was a joke. Meanwhile, my boss decided to wade into the matter. But his mind was already made up. To our greatest surprise, we saw carpenters pulling off the roof of the building. In fact, the building was demolished.

Family dispute over property ownership is a common experience in Edo State. Many families have ended up in the court. Family members have become sworn enemies.

AN IDEAL LAND SPACE FOR FILLING STATION, SHOPPING COMPLEX OR A WAREHOUSE

Buying of property should not be a random process. You should have a clear-cut reason why you are purchasing a property. Certain factors ought to influence the real reason why you want to acquire a property. Consider this: is it wise to purchase a land at the heart of the city simply for residential purpose? If so, you end up spending a lot of money for a project that will not yield any dividends later.

The ideal thing to do with such a land in a strategic location  is to use it for business purposes. Let the property serve as a residual income. As of now, there is a 100 x 200 land dimension in the heart of Benin City.
IDEAL BUSINESS FOR SUCH LOCATION
1.       Establish filling station on it: because of the location, anyone establishing filling station will make quite a lot of money daily.
2.       Shopping complex: this is another business opportunity that will thrive well in that location. You will collect rent from each tenant of not less than N30,000 naira per month. Think of how much you could make each year.
3.       Warehouse: if you build a warehouse on it, you will have a guaranteed source of income. Truth is, if you build either a shopping complex or a warehouse, both are highly sought after, so much so that even before you complete the project, you see prospective tenants scrambling to pay for it just to secure it.
In view of the foregoing, try to ponder over this business opportunity waiting to be grabbed. Do not let your money sit still  in the bank when you could invest in this idea.

THE REAL REASON WHY SOME COMMUNITY LEADERS RESELL YOUR LAND TO ANOTHER PERSON

Mr. Samuel bought a land at a rapidly developing community. He cleared the land to begin work on the site. Just then another owner of the same property emerged. Quarrel ensued. To settle the dispute both of them had to meet the community leader who doubles as the seller and reseller of the said property.

In his cunning wisdom, the community leader took the initial or original owner of the property to another land far away from the former one and at a less developed area.

THE REASON BEHIND THE RESELL
The first buyer, Mr. Okoro, bought the land five years ago at the cost of N500,000. Ever since, he did not have the money to develop the plot. Right now, development has reached the area, thus raising the value of the land to N1.5M. The community leader in question realizing this fact, had to resell that same plot to another unsuspecting buyer.
HIS PROFIT
The community leader, after reselling the land,  made N 1M from the transaction without lifting a finger. He just made a whooping N 1M from your land. Tell me, why won’t he keep reselling peoples land when there is so much to gain? This is the reason why some community leaders live an affluent lifestyles driving the best cars and the like.
