THE FANTASY
IN the famous Abraham Maslow hierarchy
of needs, shelter was identified as man’s basic need. True to this, virtually
everyone wants a comfortable place they can rest their head after a hectic day of work. This dream remains in the heart long
enough until it is realized. Every now and then they hold the picture very
clear in mind. No one wants any kind of home but rather the exact one that
meets the specification of the ideal home waiting to grow out of your heart and
from imagination into the physical sweet abode-yes a home away from home.
The fantasy or desire becomes
stronger when your present landlord breathes down on your neck and determined
to make your life a living hell when you fail to meet up the deadline for rent
payment. Your heart skips a beat whenever your landlord knocks on your door to remind you of your monthly
obligation. Sometimes you have to hide each time you sense your landlord is
coming to your house. Even worse you resort to outright lying and other antics
just to escape any possible encounter with him. With this situation in mind,
you are determined more than never before to get out of it. And so you need your
own house badly.
Moreover, many people are fed up
with their current location. So they want
to move out as soon as possible -but not in so much hurry -because they don’t want
to rent another place but desperately
need their own home.

THE FEARS
Assuming you are now ready to
make the move to purchase your own
house, fear emerge right from your heart and stand in front of you. The little
voice inside you screams “you might buy a house under dispute and end up in
court throwing good money after bad”. You then pause to gauge the possibility of
such occurrence. Suddenly you remember a friend who found himself in such mess
and is still bleeding financially from such experience. This way and that way
you become super careful-even holding back when you should make the purchase.
However, some clients hate estate
agents. They do not have any element of trust for them. Unfortunately or inevitably,
agents are more or less the door you have to pass through to get that much
desired property. Yes, it is true most properties put out for sale are usually
done through the agent. This problem is further compounded when the client
remembers a particular nasty experience with some dubious agents that exploit
their clients.
Some clients get confused when
they see different properties that are seemingly okay. They just cant make the
decision or rather make up their mind to buy the property. Herein comes
procrastination, unnecessary delay and irrelevant excuses. That is why you see
a client highly enthusiastic this minute and in the next twinkle of an eye they
lose interest. They want another brain perhaps their spouse or any other
reliable person to just make the decision for them.
It is worth stating that in
attempt to avoid what the economist calls "buyers remorse”, they hold back from
buying property immediately. Think well of a time you bought that article and
when you got home you discovered you had made the wrong decision or choice of purchase.
Worse yet you could not return it-your hard earned money gone down the drain. You
felt terribly bad, didn’t you? So whenever you want to make a purchase you
remember this experience and you recoil back.
Additionally, some clients do not
want to pay agents commission. For this reason they put up all forms of delay
mechanism to push the agent out of the picture.
